Salt

Salt - less is more

We salt our egg and of course can not miss the salt to the potatoes, the soup gets a hefty pinch of salt and the restaurant are standard salt and pepper on the table. Salt, wherever you look - it seems the "standard spice" to the Germans.

But we need so much salt in our food? Or is the constant salts of food a habit to which we can gladly do without well?

According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment states that:The German population is about 8-12 grams of salt daily to - the daily requirement is only 3 g far below the national average. That is, we take an average of 4 times to as much salt as we need.

"So what?" you might ask, "salt tastes good but what is so wrong on salt in food?" It's simple: Too much salt makes you sick!
Diseases such as hypertension and cardiovascular diseases are directly related to an increased salt intake.

If you are one of the people who make do with rather less salt in food, but you should know that is in almost all processed foods a lot of salt.
Examples are:
Bread and bakery productsSausage and CheeseCrackers and chipsConvenience foodsFast food

What can I do to reduce my salt intake?

What this means for you:

For seasoning, it does not always have to be salt. We have over time simply too accustomed to the taste of salt.
Potato taste without the salt and the stew can be wonderfully seasoned with fresh herbs. Give it a try.Spice up your meals with herbs and try to even the numerous spices.You will notice very quickly that you can eat tasty with less salt.Less salt means more quality and more enjoyment!
